Come along and join in with Crook Morris at their 9th Wassail Day Saturday 14th January 2017. The Wassailing ceremony happens in the damson orchard at The Row LA8 8DD. Note limited parking. See below.
Park near, but not at, The Lyth Valley Hotel on the A5074 road by 12:45 latest.
A public footpath across from the hotel takes you to The Row, (boots or wellies advisable), and after a short walk we arrive at The Barn, home of Mrs Pat Walker for 1:15pm prompt. We gather outside the damson orchard, for start of ceremony at 1:30pm. Making as much noise as possible we then go to our damson tree. After singing we pass around the damson beer, eat wassail cake, dunk pieces of toast in the beer and hang them on the branches. Weather permitting, we dance and then make our way to the Hare & Hounds, Bowland Bridge for about 3:00pm.
There is dancing, singing, music sessions and a Mummers Play, continuing to late at night. All welcome for a great day out, and there is ample parking at the pub.
