Home What we do Cotswold Morris Border Morris Rapper Dancing Our Own dances Mumming Music

The archetypal Morris Dance originates from the Cotswolds (Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire)

The English Morris Dance with jingling

bells, clashing sticks and fluttering

handkerchiefs is perfectly coupled with

our kit of straw hats, white collarless

shirts with baldricks (cross over sashes),

black breeches, a maroon and a green

sock, bell pads and plain black shoes to

produce a very striking sight!

Many of the Cotswold villages had their

own dances and their unique style.

In particular we do several dances from

the villages of Adderbury, Eynsham,

Ilmington and also Lichfield.

Then we top these up with a prime

selection of what we like to call 'specials'

from Ascott-under-Wychwood, Bampton,

Bledington, Bucknell, Fieldtown (Leafield),

Headington, Oddington, Sherborne and

our own dances.

These all help to broaden the wonderful variety of styles we perform within the Cotswold Tradition.
